FISHING IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN FAQ's

Q: I'M ON A CRUISE SHIP - CAN I DO THESE FISHING EXCURSIONS?

A: Yes, but you'll want to select the Puerto Aventuras location - it's only 5 minutes from the Calica cruise pier.  The Puerto Morelos location is about 40 minutes north of the Calica cruise pier, and about 30 minutes north of the Playa del Carmen ferry pier, so be sure to take that into consideration when planning your time table.

Q: WHICH LOCATION SHOULD I CHOOSE?

A: If your hotel is located north of Playa del Carmen (Iberostar, Secrets, Mayan Palace, etc), then we recommend choosing Puerto Morelos.  Your travel time will be much shorter to get to the marina.  If you are staying in downtown Playa del Carmen, Playacar, or a hotel south of Playa del Carmen, we recommend the Puerto Aventuras trips.  They can pick up right there at the Playa del Carmen ferry pier, or depart from Marina Puerto Aventuras, about 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, and 10 minutes from Akumal.  This will be the most convenient for you if you are staying in these areas.

Q: I'M AFRAID I'LL GET SEASICK - WHAT SHOULD I DO?

A: We always recommend taking a seasickness prevention such as Bonine or 24 Hour Less-Drowsy Dramamine 1 hour before departure.  It only costs a few dollars, is readily available at your local pharmacy, and can make all the difference in your trip of a lifetime.  We don't recommend regular Dramamine, as it only works for 4 hours and can cause drowsiness.

Q: WILL YOU PICK ME UP AT MY HOTEL OR DO I HAVE TO TAKE A TAXI?

A: We offer pick up from all Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen hotels for $10.00 per person round-trip.  You can also meet at the marina if you're staying in Puerto Morelos, but the transportation is easy and inexpensive, so we recommend to take advantage of it.

Q: CAN I TAKE MY CATCH BACK TO THE STATES WITH ME?

A: Yes, but we don't recommend it.  With the Patriot Act and the new airline security regulations it is more trouble than it's worth.  We recommend taking it to our restaurant and having the chef cook it up for you instead - fresh right off the line.  You can also take some back to your hotel, store it in your hotel freezer and cook it up on other days of your vacation.  Of course, the crew always appreciates anything you leave with them as well.
