Playa
del Carmen snorkeling is one of the
most popular activities. While
not quite as famous as
Cozumel Snorkeling, it is still
quite a wonder in it's own right.
Tropical fish and coral reefs abound,
brilliant colors are amplified by the
clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Snorkeling tours are sometimes done
by boat, and sometimes from shore, depending
on the location and activity, but there
are many hidden coves in Playa del Carmen
and the Riviera Maya that offer wonderful
snorkeling excursions, as well as the
world's second longest barrier reef,
lying just 2 minutes offshore by boat.
Snorkeling in Playa del Carmen is a
great experience!

Q: I'M ON A CRUISE SHIP - CAN
I DO THESE TOURS?
A: Yes. All except the whale sharks and Xel
Ha make great cruise excursions. We also offer a private
tour to Xel Ha that will work for cruise shore excursions
as well.
Q: I HAVE A BIG GROUP, AND
WANT A PRIVATE BOAT CHARTER - CAN YOU HELP?
A: You bet! We can make any of our tours
private, just for your group, or we can customize a
special itinerary just for your occasion. We can
also charter a boat not shown on our website for you.

Q: DO I NEED TO USE BIODEGRADABLE
SUNSCREEN?
A: Yes. All water activities in Playa del Carmen
require that you use only biodegradable sunscreen.
See our
biodegradable sunblock page for more information.
Q: WHERE IS THE BEST SNORKELING
IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN?
A: Well, that depends on who you ask. There
isn't just a "best location" because so many locations are
so beautiful. The snorkeling on the boat tours and
at Yal-Ku will be a bit better than at Xel-Ha, but at Xel-Ha,
you can spend the whole day doing lots of fun activities.
Q: DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO
SWIM TO ENJOY SNORKELING?
A: No, but you need to be comfortable in the water.
You'll have a lifejacket or snorkeling vest on, so you won't
sink - you can just doggy paddle around and you'll be fine.
However, if you don't swim, you might want to consider snorkeling
from a beach like at Xel Ha.
