COLONIAL HISTORY TOUR
Brand new to Playa del Carmen is this historical journey through the Caste War of Yucatan, an epic 54-year battle between the Mayan people and the Spanish Colonials in the late 1800s. This is a real treat for off-the-beaten-track history buffs, and for anyone looking for a unique way to experience the Riviera Maya of Mexico.
Start in the Mayan village of Valladolid and visit their famous church and central plaza. Visit the church of Tepich, the birthplace of the Caste War, and Tihosuco, where we'll see their church, museum and convent. Throughout this tour, your expert historical guide will be reliving the horrors and triumphs of this legendary struggle, giving you unique insight into the creation of the Mayan empire as it exists today.
We'll cool off with a swim in Sacalaca Cenote, then go kayaking on Lake Chichankanab, before arriving at Ki Janaal, a Mayan restaurant and beach club, where you can enjoy swimming in the pools or basking in the sun.
